Yah Roper

        The very inkling of being a performing arts professional crept into my mind at the age of 13, where I enrolled into a high school against my parents wishes, Cicely L. Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts, located in East Orange , NJ.

       My journey here afforded me most advantages students of my demographical area weren't always privy to. I broke barriers, graduating as the head actress of my class having left behind a legacy of countless performances, community service, and beginning teaching skills. 

       My undergraduate journey first began at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NY/LA where I learned how to launch the true business of acting, making my first international connections in drama education, and ended at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.

       Upon receiving my Bachelor's degree in Theater and Dance, I knew that life as a performance had grown beyond acting. I began my first acting teacher journey solo, until I became the only performing arts instructor and recruiter at Larrieux Theater's touring troupe in Northern NJ. My training here bestowed me the opportunity of creating a small scale non-profit organization, "G.I.T. Arts," a performance arts traveling troupe that offers introductory training courses for any age of interest formally based out of the NJ/NYC area.

       I wanted to hone my professional career to further limits and completed my Master's degree in Film and Television with a concentration of Scriptwriting, which led me to working internationally as a Senior Drama Educator/ Marketing Consultant at Rumeisen Drama School in Chengdu, China.

     My biggest goal is to become a college professor while still actively being where I started, an actress.

I am currently a performance ensemble member in Rising Sun NYC theatre troupe.

     My journey continues in Passaic and Paterson, NJ where I serve as a Theater teacher to Highschool students. I also manage an afterschool Drama club that provides a home for our students who would love to explore their creativity in the Arts.
